Another Duathlon

Well, this time I decided to make another duathlon… La Guancha Championship in Ponce (5k run, 20k bike, 2.5k run). This was my 4th competition, but the sun was hitting heavy… like 100 degrees.

As usual, I arrive early to the race place, like 2 hours before. I brought my family (girlfriend, father, mother, niece). Everything was setup for an easy race. Got a chance to view the place, analyze the route and plan my race. But the sun was hitting hard and I was getting worried.

Race time came, and we started the 5k race which was a 3 loop circuit. Already in the first loop i was feeling the pain. It wasn’t my day. I was suffering the sun and I can hardly keep my race pace, so I had to lower it. After the 5k (which ended up near 4 miles since the route was miscalculated) I got into the bike for my next 20k. But the sun was hitting hard :) and I was feeling it. I started my race pace (near 22 mph) but had to reduce it to 16 mph. I knew I was in bad shape. I finished the bike part and needed to run 2.5k. I started to run, but had to stop. My body can’t handle anymore.

This race was the first race I couldn’t finish. I was feeling bad, but at the same time I felt satisfied.

Washington Trip

Well, the trip was completed… a short one. Lot of heat, lot of people. After 4 hours of driving, we got to the Independence Drive, which took us to the Tidal Basin parking (free!).

Here a few pics for your enjoy.

My first post…

Well all, this will be my first post (finally some love). So we have a trip to Washington tomorrow, so a few pictures will be uploaded soon.
